Ok, so here is the deal guys. The maxx supports recording video with the flip closed, as well as taking pictures with the flip closed.

The procedure is the following:

1. Remap Smart key to Center key
2. Remap Right silver key to C key
3. Remap one of the volume keys to left softkey
4. Set the menu to List, OR, make video camera item number 5

When you do the following, setting the menu to list, you can view the phones menu with the flip closed by pressing the now remapped smart key. The volume key you did NOT remap serves as a navigation key now.

Navigate to video camera (or if you placed video camera as item number 5 then no need to navigate) and press the smart key. The viewfinder opens, now you press the smart key to start recording, smart key again to pause recording, and again to resume. Now, to save it you have to hit the remapped volume key to stop recording, then the smart key to save it. All this without opening the flip.

Alternative Solutions:

Remapping the Right silver key to LSK would mean you would retain volume functionality as well as better navigation but no way to return to the previous menu as you loose C key functionality.

FAQ:

1.- Do you loose Media Player support?

No, you don't. To access media player support you have to navigate in the menu to Media Finder then select Music, when you Open Media Finder the touch keys activate.

2.- If i can access the menu then can i read my messages?

No, the phone locks when selecting inbox.

3.- Can i view pictures and Videos on the outer screen?

No, when selecting pictures it freezes (probably due to the outer screen not being able to display the picture grid). When selecting as video the outer screen goes blank and you can only here the audio.

4.- Can i access my phonebook?

Yes, but it is recommended to set the contacts as List instead of Picture. Actually, you can call a contact with the flip closed and it will dial the number, but i have not actually called someone and had them answer so i don't know how that works out.

5.- Can i still Lock and Unlock my outer keys?

No, since the outer keys are locked and unlocked using the smart key, and the smart key does not exist anymore, the keys can not be locked nor unlocked, it is recommended to set the Autolock to Off.

6.- Can i change my ringstyle still?

Yes, but you do not use the volume keys as before, you have to navigate to Settings>Ringstyles>Style:

7.- Why can i set the Video camera to item number 5 and have it work without changing me menu to list?

Since the outer screen can not display the icon menu, when you hit the now remapped Smart key, it opens up the menu even if you can not see, item number 5 is being selected. You can not change items with the volume keys though so the only option to select is item number 5.

8.- So, if my menu is displayed as icons, i can only access one feature?

Exactly, if it is set as icons then only item number 5 will be available, so you wont be able to access your Media Finder, nor Ringstlyes, etc.
